This was perhaps the trendsetter when it was built in 1999. It includes a cinema, a library, a fully equipped hospital, a gym n spa, and a business center. Capable of housing 40 guests and 100 crew members, this yacht can sail at speeds of 17 knots. The yacht now belongs to the crown prince’s family and stays moored in a port in the Red Sea.

Owner- David Geffen, American business magnate

This beautiful watercraft was built by the German company Lürssen in 2004, and was previously owned by Larry Elison, the founder and CEO at Oracle Corporation. The yacht houses over 80 rooms on five floors along with luxurious Jacuzzi bathrooms, a spa n sauna, a private cinema, and a basketball court on the main deck. It can achieve 26-28 knots with force from 4 propellers.

Owner – Steven Spielberg, Director, screenwriter, and producer

A motor yacht custom built by Oceanco from Netherlands, this craft is a whole new definition of luxury and comfort. With advanced stabilizers and anchors, this yacht offers reduces the effects of rough waters felt inside. The intricate exterior and interior were designed by Nuvolari & Lenard. The yacht is equipped with an infinity pool whose walls can double up as movie screens. It is capable of accommodating up to 12 guests in 7-8 suites and 23 crew personnel onboard. The yacht tops speeds of 20-21 knots.

Price – US $ 210 – 250 million (alleged and undisclosed)

Owner – Suleiman Kerimov, Russian businessman, investor, and politician

This super-yacht, built by Lürssen, was launched as ‘Air’ in 2005. Ice has received praise for its green standards, as it has electric generators and an inbuilt waste water management system. The interiors were designed by Terence Disdale. The yacht has a pool on the main deck and a Jacuzzi on the sun deck. It also has a helipad which carries a Eurocopter EC135 as per latest news. It offers accommodation for 15 guests and 25 crew personnel on board.  The yacht tops speeds of 16 knots.

Price- US $ 215 million

Owner – Nassar Al Rashid, Saudi billionaire and advisor to the royal family

This beautiful vessel was made by Blohm and Voss and has two diesel engines with 7000 HP each, propelling her at 22 knots. It has a tender with it called “Mangusta Little Saf”. The name and embellishments all over the vessel are carved in 24 carat GOLD. If that wasn’t taking far enough, the vessel also has an on board beach. The vessel accommodates over 30 guests and 60 crew members. If you’d like to take a closer view, the vessel can be frequently seen at the ports of Monaco and Antibes during summers.

This quarter billion superyacht was built in 2008 by Peters Schiffbau and the interior design is by Andrew Winch. It had won the award for “Best Interior Design” in 2009. The vessel has 10 bedroom suites, a swimming pool, a movie theater, a helipad, and a separate set of VIP suites for the owners.  It can accommodate over 40 guests and 60 crew members. The vessel tops speeds of 23 knots flat out.

6. Dilbar

Price – US $ 263 million

Owner – Alisher Usmanov, Russian businessman

Not staying far behind his middle eastern counterparts, this yacht was custom built for the Russian billionaire. Named after his late mother, this vessel was built by Lürssen and accommodates 20 passengers and 47 crew members. It was one of the first yachts with particle filters installed on the main engine exhausts. This vehicle tops speeds of 21 knots. Not much is known about this magnificent watercraft, but we do know that Mr. Usmanov uses it to visit his private islands. A bigger and more luxurious version of the watercraft is under construction under the name “Omar” and will be delivered to the billionaire in the next two years.

This beauty was built with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure in 2008. It offers accommodation for over 70 guests and 154 crew members. Apart from the luxurious amenities and features found in most super yachts, this one also has a concert hall that can accommodate 50-70 people, should the wish ever arise. This beast can go up to 25 knots and you’ll have to wish that the Sultan releases more information for you to be amazed by.

Price- US $ 323 million

Owner- Andrey Melnichenko, Russian businessman

This super yacht is rather small for its huge cost; it is crewed by 42 people and can house only 15 guests. What makes this sword shaped vessel special is the advanced interior design, it has swimming pools with artificial currents, the most advanced entertainment systems, two additional boats, and the most luxurious suites.

3. Dubai

Price – US $ 350 -400 million

Owner – Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of the Emirate of Dubai and the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates

When a yacht is named after Dubai, you can expect only the best of the best. This beast was made by Blohm and Voss, and can house 72 guests served by 88 crew members. This yacht was first ordered by Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei, but was later acquired by the Sheikh of Dubai when he provided the money to finish the project. The super-yacht has a glass staircase with changing colors, a large social area, and numerous VIP and luxury suites. With seven decks, it has many sunbathing areas, a mosaic swimming pool, several Jacuzzis, and a helipad. The vessel can also carry two tenders with it and can move at speeds of 26 knots.

2. Eclipse

Price – US $ 500 million, $ 1-1.2 billion (rumored)

Owner- Roman Abramovich, Russian businessman, investor and politician

Chelsea F.C owner owns a yacht so extravagant and luxurious that its actual cost has been kept under wraps and may even go up to 1.4 billion US dollars. The vessel’s construction was completed in 2010 and it accommodates 36 guests and 70 crew members. Some of the lavish amenities include a leisure submarine, two large swimming pools, and a depth feature which allows a deck to be converted into a dance floor. If that wasn’t enough, this beast also has six tenders, accommodation for three helicopters, an anti-missile defense system, and a paparazzi camera zapping laser system. Join Chelsea and perform well, and Roman may just take you with him.

As the name suggests, this yacht will be a miniature replica of the lavish streets of Monaco. This unparalleled beauty will feature the famous Monte Carlo casino, Hotel de Paris, the Monte Carlo racetrack (but with go karts obviously), swimming pools, tennis courts, swim in Jacuzzi bars, small waterfalls, helipads,  submarines,  and a man-made lake. This yacht is supposedly based on a pacific island/ lavish city theme and will probably be close to a floating city.


With eccentric spending by the super-rich, super luxury yachts are here to stay for a long time. It won’t be surprising if this list is replaced by a completely new one in the next 5 years.
