She can raise and take care and of the newborn baby.Becoming a mother is a blessing for every woman who completes her and her family. It brings happiness in the life of people around her.
But along with joy it also brings a lot of concern and safety to ensure a healthy and sound birth of the child. She not only needs to take care of herself but also of the baby that recites in her womb. So here are some of the things that pregnant women should NOT do : –
10. Avoid taking certain medicines: –
It is essential to take medication as per the guidance of the Doctor during this phase as any wrong medicine can have specific side effects on the body and even harm to the baby. Some cold drugs like Ibuprofen, ACE inhibitors, and Acne medication can be harmful during pregnancy. Some herbal remedies can also be fatal to the fetus. It is a responsible task, so precaution is a must. If you are unable to consult your doctor in case of an emergency regarding the daily needed medicine, then you may seek advice from an established pharmacist as well.
9. Don’t go near garbage or change pet litters: –
You should sincerely avoid the cleaning of garbage bins or cat litters as you may develop an infection known as Toxoplasmosis. This infection can be hazardous for your newborn baby as it may cause blindness, brain and eye damage, miscarriage, etc. Some of the symptoms indicating the presence of this disease in your body are mild flu, sore, and aching muscles. It is a lesser known problem, and so its awareness is a necessity.
8. Wear flats instead of stilettos:-
During pregnancy women generally, put on weight so it can be risky if they wear high heels while going out. It may cost following imbalanced accidents, and they might also get swollen ankles. Wearing slippers having heels lesser than 3 inches will be comfortable. It is also advisable to avoid doing some stressful activities like ice skating, rock climbing, going on roller-coaster rides, etc. to prevent the risk of falling and hurting yourself.
7. Stay away from toxic elements: –
There are some cleaning products like paints and glues which contain naphthalene. You should make sure to check the labels of these products before using them as they can be harmful to the health of the babies. If anyone is cleaning the house with such elements, it is necessary for the home to be adequately ventilated to avoid getting affected by it and causing damage to your blood cells leading to anemia. Getting high exposure to such toxins may cause symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, and loss of appetite.
6. Don’t exert yourself: –
Women’s during pregnancy should take an ample amount of rest and should not get tired by standing for a long time in one place. They should also avoid lifting and moving heavy objects as it may cause problems like swollen ankles, muscles stretching, and vain tangling. Coming in contact with lethargic sports activities like boxing, and exercise which put strain to the uterus can cause problems like preterm birth, pregnancy loss, etc. They can also cause hormonal changes and weakness in the ligament.
5. Avoid sitting in the hot tub: –
According to the gynecologist, it is advised not to take a hot bath during pregnancy. Generally, a woman feels the heat running in their bodies because of the hormonal changes and increase in the blood supply. At such time it is good to release the body heat naturally by sweating but if you take a sauna, steam bath or Jacuzzi you stop sweating and your core body temperature rises causing dehydration and fainting. It also becomes a hindrance in the development of the baby especially in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Even though it is a fundamental thing, it is essential to keep in mind and implement it as a preservative measure.
4. Avoid smoking and drugs: –
Tobacco and drugs are the two harmful habits that are hazardous for every human being. They both give immense pleasure on consuming but slowly and silently take a person closer to his or her death. Such a thing is a big no for pregnant women. Those women who smoke or take drugs should get rid of such habits. These things are an obstacle to the development of the baby brain and other organs. It can also cause the risk of lung cancer, heart diseases, premature birth, miscarriage, stillbirth, low birth rate, and sudden infant death syndrome.
3. Avoid high intake of caffeine: –
The effect of consuming caffeine is similar to the consumption of alcohol. If you take more than 300 mg of caffeine every day, it can be harmful to the full growth of the fetus. It increases your blood pressure and heart rate and may increase the risk of miscarriage and low birth weight. Drinking 1.5 cups of coffee will cause no harm to the baby, but more than that can cause damage to the placenta. Caffeine is not only present in coffee but also some medicine, chocolates, and some sodas, so it is crucial to listen to your doctor advice and follow it wisely to have a healthy and hassle-free pregnancy.
2. Stay away from alcohol: –
Drinking alcohol is hazardous to health for all human beings and especially for a pregnant woman. It acts as a silent killer and slowly causes damage in the organs of the body. In women’s, it mixes quickly with the blood and reaches the umbilical cord which can cause direct harm to the growth of the fetus. It stops the gradual development of the baby’s brain and heart and can be a cause for miscarriage, premature birth, brain damage, seizures, physical abnormalities, behavioral defects, coordination problems, etc. So if you are pregnant and have the habit of consuming alcohol, you must leave it immediately to prevent more harm caused to your body.
1. Eat Healthy to Stay Healthy: –
The most crucial thing which pregnant women must take care of is the food that they are eating so that they can stay healthy and away from diseases. There are some of the food products whose odor would make them sick so they should avoid eating them. Some of the raw meat, seafood like oysters, clams, beef, poultry have a bacteria named listeria present in them which can lead to blood poisoning. Fishes with high levels of mercury like swordfish, mackerel, sushi can also cause dehydration, fever, vision problems, brain damage of the fetus. They should also avoid eating raw eggs, hollandaise sauces, mayonnaise, soft cheeses like Roquefort, Camembert, brie, and feta. Pregnant women must take a balanced diet and snack food items having lean proteins, healthy fats, fresh fruits, vegetables and lots of water to stay hydrated all day.
Every woman who is blessed to become a mother goes through a lot of pain and hardships while carrying her baby in the womb for nine months. She would not want to lose her happiness because of some negligence. So it is better to follow all the advice of your gynecologist, as you are giving birth to a new life so eat healthily and stay healthy.
