Hair loss and balding are two different things entirely. Hair loss is not merely restricted to the head but can happen on any part of the body. Usually, it occurs due to any of the four conditions: the etiology is concerned with hormones, medication, treatment, and medical issues. However, there exist numerous procedures to cure for each different etiology. Notably, hair loss occurs mostly in the male sex. Baldness, on the other hand, is hair loss that is restricted only to the head. It usually happens mostly hereditary primarily, therefore, be sure to differentiate between the two, as treatments differ.
10. Hereditary Causes
Familial inheritance of the condition of being prone to hair loss is possible. It can be easily cured and is known as male or female patterned baldness. It is not a disease, but it occurs due to the combination of genetics, the aging process, and the hormone level. The person will notice the change in hair with the time frame of age. Hairs will start becoming thinner with age. There are many ways to cure the hereditary hair loss; some of them are like keep yourself hydrated, do regular head massage, etc.
9. Hormonal Conditions
The hair loss that arises from hormonal conditions can either be a direct result of a by-product. It is an indication of the fact that it can be temporary or permanent. Hormonal alternations happen all the time, but certain conditions related to childbirth, thyroid, pregnancy, and menopause cause hair loss in women. These can be temporary, however. Alopecia areata is the condition wherein there occur a lot of scalp infections and hair loss that happens in clumps across the scalp and produces small ringworm in the hair. Hormones are crucial to hair loss because they tamper with hair growth. Hair growth takes place by the hair growing cycle: this where the hormone of estrogen makes sure that the hair growth time is long. However, when the male hormone called androgen begins to interfere in this process, the time for the hair to grow is shortened, and it does not. A critical part of hair loss is the inability to produce new hair to compensate, which is why the loss becomes so apparent, seeing as humans do lose a considerable amount of hair, numbering from hundreds to thousands daily.
One more severe condition that can cause hair loss is that of too much of the aforementioned male hormone called androgen. It may happen because of the presence of endocrine issues, such as PCOS, but this is mostly a medical issue since it is genetic and deals with what is called follicle sensitivity.
8. Medical Etiologies
One primarily etiology that follows the psychological model is Trichotillomania, which is an anxiety based disorder where people pull out their hair. By doing this, it provides them with some sense of relief and is part of a set of conditions called the body-focused repetitive behaviors, all of which come under the anxiety spectrum.
7. Supplements for Medical Conditions
There are a lot of medications and supplements that people take for the treatment of several diseases. However, it is not always the case that these will have no side effects. Due to the intake of medicines for a condition like Cancer, depression, blood pressure, arthritis, coronary, and gout supplements cause hair loss in people.
6. Cancer Treatment
For the treatment of cancer, Chemotherapy is only a method. This therapy attacks the growing cancer cells and also attacks adjacent growing cells in the body including the cells in the head, Therapy radiation may cause hair loss to the cancer patient. However, hair will not grow back the same way after recovery.
5. Hairstyles and Hair Care
Fashion is always fast moving, and trends related to hair keep changing in the same manner. People get much treatment done on there hairs like rebounding, keratin, straightening. In these treatments, a lot of chemicals are applied to the strands which result in loss of hair or damage hair growth. Certain trends that harm the scalp and follicles are cornrows, tight ponytails, and excessive tight tying of hair. It results in something called traction alopecia areata, a type of hair loss.
4. Hair Treatment
Additionally, industries have now begun to use chemicals and hot irons to fashion hair into a different style, and this intense heat combined with the compound can permanently damage the roots, with no recovery from the permanent hair loss.
Stress and hair loss complements each other. If the stress level increases then hair loss will also increase whereas if stress decreases then hair loss will also reduced. There are three stats of hair loss that can happen due to stress in person, i.e. Telogen effluvium, Trichotillomania, Alopecia areata. Telogen effluvium means tension starts pushing the hair follicles at the resting place which causes hair loss while washing the hairs. Trichotillomania means when you are not under control to pull out your hair from your scalp, eyebrows or other parts of your body due to tension, boredom, frustration, etc. Alopecia areata causes the immune system to attack the hair follicles which in turn causes hair loss .
Hair loss due to stress is not permanent. If the stress level reduces then hair loss are under control, and your hair starts growing again.
2. Iron, Vitamin B12
Both these metal is crucial in the hair growth cycle. As B12 produces red blood cells which in turn is essential for the hair growth process. The deficiency of B12 vitamin causes loss of hair and many other problems like anemia. B12 is present in food like eggs, fish, meat. For vegetarians, they should consult the doctor for B12 supplements.
Deficiency of Iron nutrient won’t allow your body to produce necessary hemoglobin in your body. Hemoglobin carries oxygen that helps in the hair growth process.
1. Weight Loss
One of the most drastic causes of hair loss is rapid weight loss or crash dieting that people undertake. When the weight is dropped to severe extents, a month or two months later, the hair fall begins to increase rapidly. This process usually starts around a month and a half after the weight loss process. Why does this occur? It happens because of lack of many nutrients in the body occurs if we are on dieting. Lack of nutrition causes fluctuation of body mass index which in turn causes physical stress, and hence the hair follicle will move to an inactive stage.
Is your hair reactive? Reactive means that your hair is sensitive to certain stimuli, which are called triggers. Prepare your hair loss from inevitable hair loss due to aging, but to keep hair healthy, eat a nutrient-filled diet and make sure that your hair treatments are not laden with heat and chemicals, as this is difficult to recover from it. Specific food like amla is good for hair growth. Always uses a homemade and natural product for proper care of your hair.
