Pets are, in one word, amazing. Doesn’t it astonish you that even when they aren’t really family or friends, and they do not really belong to the same species as we do, pets are such an important part of our lives? The love they shower on us is boundless, even infinite. No one’s to say what it is exactly about our pets that link our hearts to theirs: their selfless, innocent love or their undeniable cuteness. Whatever it is, pets make this world a softer, happier place to be in.
Today, you have the cutest animals which sneakily make their homes in us. Here are ten pets that melt our hearts:
As they say, a dog is a man’s best friend. It has been proven that having a dog as a pet greatly reduces depression, which is just an example of how much companionship, love and warmth they provide. From pocket-sized Chihuahuas to precious Labradors, a variety of dog breeds have been around as pets, cocooning us humans in their selflessness and general amiability, making our houses more like homes. And don’t forget puppy dog eyes, holy hell. Be it a tiny little puppy (or as the internet fondly calls it, pupper) or a big handsome dog (or doggo), dogs are cute as heck: absolutely no doubt about it.
Little balls of fur with a basic I-don’t-really-care-about-you attitude and sometimes even a wee bit of hostility, cats have an unquestionable cuteness about them. Their pretty eyes and prettier whiskers are what make them adorable. To add to that, they are playful and coy! And the way they mew is definitely among the most lovable sounds on the planet, it easily melts your heart! And boy, are they clever. They know how to manipulate their way into your heart, and under their sleeve are all the tricks to stay in there forever. Honestly, I wouldn’t go so far as calling cats loving or caring, but they’re cute, no denying.
Get off the dog/cat bandwagon; there are so many incredibly adorable animals out there. Look at rabbits for example. They are so furry, so beautiful and it’s very easy to fall in love with them. They are also very interactive as pets, and the best part is that they are a lot less demanding than other animals. Most of them are very affectionate, and will be easy to get attached to. They are full of energy and life, and spending time with your pet bunny could be a great way of de-stressing yourself. Warning: The enormous amount of cuteness might be harmful to your health.
Whenever you watch Winnie The Pooh, haven’t you looked at little Piglet and uttered the longest “aww” every time? I know I have. Pigs, especially teacup pigs, have been around as pets for a considerable amount of time. They are absolutely melt-your-heart cute, and are very easy as pets. And the great part that you probably didn’t know, is that for people who are allergic to dogs or cats, especially dog hair or cat hair, pigs do not shed, and are hypoallergenic, meaning very less likely to cause allergies. How awesome! They can also be easily trained, and are rather smart. What a package.
Oh my goodness. Hamsters are just the prettiest things to look at. They are small, round, fuzzy and cuteness spills through them. Their cheek pouches, which they use to carry food, are what add to the already excessive cuteness they have. To add to that, their stubby tails and adorable whiskers, how very cute! And when they hold their paws up, it is the most adorable thing ever. Their eyes, which have a certain kind of inquisitiveness in them, make one want to just hold them close forever. Careful though, when startled, they bite!
One has to note that it hasn’t been very long that hedgehogs have been kept as pets, so they might not really be the conventional choice for a pet. And they’re also, um, prickly. But hey, cuteness lies in the eyes of the beholder! These can be great companions when they are given proper food and care. And while they might shoot their quills in defence when threatened, it is necessary to know that they may be nervous and frightened and it is only normal. There is nothing that wrapping them in a small towel can’t fix. Otherwise, having a small, slightly prickly pet is nothing short of mega-cute.
If you didn’t have a turtle or a tortoise as a pet, you wouldn’t have the impression that they’re exactly friendly. But you’re in for a surprise: they can be very friendly and personable! If you give them proper care and feed them well, they can be companions for a very long period of time. They have humongous lifespans. For a person who might have a little problem with detachment, turtles/ tortoises are great options. They are calm and graceful animals, and do not hurt anybody. And their shells are gorgeous, and limbs are so soft! Add to that their glassy eyes. What’s not to love?
Iguanas have reasonably strict feeding and housing necessities, so they might not really be one’s go-to pet. But if you can provide their required care, they could be great as pets! They are beautiful and exotic, and that adds to the charm of it all. They are surprisingly very intelligent and can be pretty rewarding, and they can even be toilet trained! But hey, the most important thing to consider is this: because they resemble dragons a little bit, they end up making you feel powerful. If that isn’t tempting, I don’t know what is.
Goldfish are cute. One does not need reasons to back this up. They are friggin’ cute. They are also very easy to maintain and gorgeous to look at. Just having an aquarium around has been known to reduce blood pressure, anxiety and stress. Along with being so beneficial, they are adorable for so many reasons. These little cutesters sleep with their eyes open, and look unbelievably cute when they do so. Plus, they are very cheap to buy and can be found everywhere. Enough motivation to go get one!
Parrots are admittedly a little high-maintenance, but they can be such great companions if needed. If taken care of in a proper manner, they can easily form a bond with their owners. Additionally, they can also be very cuddly and lovable! And accept it, parrots are very entertaining animals. They are intelligent, and could make you smile through and through with how clever they are. Having a parrot as a pet is a source of inexhaustible joy.
