Cancer today has emerged as one of the most widespread illnesses all across the globe. The complex disease which has proved to be a mystery to our medical advancements till date.In layman’s terms as “a disease in which abnormal cells divide uncontrollably and destroy body tissues.”
Whether it is a celebrity like Mrs. Sonali Bendre or a healthy patient, the simple fact remains that it takes every ounce of strength and courage that one has in his or her soul to fight cancer.
Unfortunately, the sole reason that causes this disease is yet not known which makes it extremely difficult to prevent or even diagnose it. A little lump or any slight pain initially unattended and often ignored by people can go on to be cancerous in a lot of cases. It is, therefore, essential to be as aware as possible of this disease commonly called as ‘Kark rog’ in Hindi and ‘Cancer’ in English. Cancer takes a human being into the dark abyss of death. According to recent statistics, the number of new cases of cancer is 439.2 per 1,00,000 men and women a year (based on facts that came during 2011-15). Even though the disease attacks and spreads more like a silent enemy, there are, however, specific symptoms that are noticeable and are known to be the likely symptoms of cancer. Immediate attention is required if any symptoms are felt in the body. Some of the Cancer Symptoms are below :
10.Unexpected Weight Loss And Fever
If you experience a sudden weight loss even if you eat in adequate amounts, it may be a symptom you wouldn’t want to ignore. It is through a voluntary diet and exercise that people lose weight usually. Weight loss without any training or overactivity or change in the life routine is a sign that something is not going right in the body. It is seen in most cases as an initial symptom of cancer. Fever too, without any cause symbolizes the hyperactivity of germs and something going incorrect in the internal body processes. These are some of the most painless and silent symptoms that have a massive tendency of getting ignored. So if you have frequent visitings of fever or even night sweats, consult a doctor.
Diarrhea refers to a health condition in which feces are very frequently discharged, most often in a liquid state. Though it happens mostly due to changed bowel habits, certain cancers have also been seen causing diarrhea, including hormone-producing (neuroendocrine) tumors, such as carcinoid syndrome and colon cancer. Frequent diarrhea is sometimes a sign of cancer at a developing stage. If Diarrhea recurs frequently or for a comparable long period, one should consult a doctor immediately.
8. A Change In Bowel Habits
Changes in Bowel habits generally and mostly are related to changes in the diet schedule, but sometimes it may also be a possible sign of cancer and significant changes need notice and evaluation. In the case of diseases such as Colon cancer, doctors often tend to examine the thin pencil stools or black stools that are likely to be a symptom of it. Frequent or constant bloody stool is identified as a possible symptom of cancer.
7. Unexplained Anaemia
Anaemia refers to the presence of a low amount of Red Blood cells in the body which consequently leads to weight loss, nausea, body ache, and weakness, etc. Bowel Cancer can sometimes cause Anaemia which can be diagnosed by doctors through Endoscopy of upper and lower intestinal tracts. Unless there is an obvious source of ongoing blood loss (such as the process of the menstrual cycle in females), Anaemia needs to be explained.
6. PELVIC IRRITATION
Bladder Cancer and Pelvic tumors are some silent and hazardous conditions that can irritate the bladder and urinary frequency. Urinary frequency is a sign of Diabetes too. In any case, medical supervision is the best solution. Also, the discharge of blood with urine or stool is a matter of grave concern. The release of blood with pain in the lower abdomen and difficulty in passing urine and stool, but a lot of people tend to wait for days due to shame before consulting a medical specialist. 5. Change In Warts And Moles
Moles are growth or enlargements in the skin with irregular edges. Bleeding moles are often identified as possible symptoms for skin cancer and are generally self recognizable. Skin cancer rarely hurts and is more frequently seen than felt. 4. Unusual Vaginal Bleeding/ Discharge
Frequent and untimely vaginal bleeding or abnormal discharge may be a visible symptom of Uterus Cancer. An unusual discharge may be yellow or green, or foul smelling. Cancers related to the pelvic region have a high tendency of exhibiting this symptom, especially in females. Yeast or bacterial infection may cause an unusual discharge too. It is generally painless and tends to be ignored by women until it recurs or is continuous for an irregular period. Women are advised not to wait but immediately consult gynecologists in such cases.
3. Prostate Cancer
Prostate cancer is one of the most widespread diseases in males. Almost a million cases of prostate cancer are diagnosed in this nation per year. Most men suffer from harmless prostate enlargement as they age. However, this enlargement may or may not lead to cancer. In situations it does, losing bladder control, presence of blood in urine, slight pain in the lower abdomen are some common symptoms. A lot many men tend to overlook the signs which may lead to uncurable Prostate Cancer in the long run.
2.Persistent Cough/ Blood Tinged Saliva

Symptoms such as infection, swollen veins, irritation can also lead to the formation of a lump, in which case, immediate doctors’ evaluation is advisable.
It was earlier believed that only middle-aged or old aged people run a risk of cancer. However, the range has widened to a considerable extent now, engulfing even the infants. Though chemotherapy has been developed as a treatment for cancer, which is very painful, it is a therapy indeed but in about half the total cases it goes in vain as the disease is diagnosed at a later and fatal stage. Going by the proverb ‘prevention is better than cure’ it is advised to keep an eye on any abnormal conditions occurring in your body that could potentially lead to this dangerous illness.
