At first we crave to earn our own bread and then we beg to reverse. Sometimes the job looks as tempting as a donut and later we realize it has a hole in it. Our high spirits nod to any hardship at day 1 of the job but when the page of calendar turns, the hurdles become a painful nerve. In the interview the salary offered looks like so “much” but wait! With the passage of time that “too much” becomes “too little”.
For an employee there comes at least one time in life when the feeling of dashing away freaks us. We tend to seek rescue! We hunt for a change- JOB CHANGE!
It is not only the employee who falls amid the reasons for job change but more than him it is the employer! Yes, an employer who has a bundle of such reasons put forward by his people at work. As much it is important for a job doer to know when it is a high time for job change, it is important for the boss as well. He must delve out such reasons and keep them at bay as human resource is the biggest asset nowadays.
Read on for Top 10 most common reasons for job change!
10. Trimming the fat.
You love stepping in your cabin. The boss showers accolades on you. Weekdays are easy to work on and weekends are crazy because the colleagues are too good. And the salary, well! It is purely satisfactory with all the additional allowances. Everything is just the way one dreams of at their job. So where is the reason to switch onto another one? It is nothing but DOWNSIZING! It is sometimes the company who has to chuck away some people on one or the other grounds, making it a reason for job change.
9. “I commute more than I live.”
We somehow agree to travel long distance from home to workplace at the commencement. It is only with the rolling of weeks or months it turns out to be our soreness. Not only it wrecks the body but also creates hollowness in our family relations. Devoting even a tiny chunk of time to our family and friends becomes a sweaty task. It may lead to emotional breakdowns and creates the urge to change our job.
8. The organizational liabilities overtakes its assets.
We always look forward to a job which can bring us a sense of security in all the phases. If the graph of the firm’s financial conditions seems to rise never in near future, it gives enough indications to swap the job NOW! Nobody wants the darkness of company’s future be fallen on their upcoming life. If you observe the company piling up liabilities and losing its charm you know what should be your next sane step.
7. “I am shifting to a new place.”
It generally happens that a bride-to-be has to change her place of work after the marriage. Also, change in the office place of one spouse automatically becomes the cause of other partner’s job quit. Even your own family might be preparing to settle down in other area or city. This too can be thought to be taken as a suitable logic to hop onto new job.
6. Your privacy/morals are being leaked.
Nobody likes the intrusion in their personal lives in any way. It is after spending a couple of weeks or so the realities start to unveil. Privacy issues may crawl up where the employee is imposed on with ball and chain. If you are made to reveal too much of your personal information or you feel the environment does not gel up with your morals, you know it’s the time to take exit.
5. The skills one got has another better place.
When the job is on paper everything seems to be a perfect dessert to eat. But it is only after munching onto it we realize if it is according to our taste buds. If one feels that they are not in charge of the skills ACTUALLY needed for the job or the skills they hold can be placed better at some other place, the next step is chalked out. There is a job for every skill and there is a specific skill for every job. So changing job is definitely a yes!
4. Monotony has taken over.
Some people are very creative and look forward to activities that can keep them challenged. Performing same tasks daily does not interest them and they yearn for change. They want to try their hands on various kinds of job. Change in their jobs is the only thing that can keep them lively and on for work.
3. Cold- hearted relationship with the boss.
People nowadays believe they are their own masters first. They do not like being jailed up by the instructions of their boss. But a boss makes sure that his people at work know who the owner is. Hence, a clash! Distrust, non- appreciation, hard feelings, ignorance and much negativity for each other becomes a ritual. So instead of seeing off each other daily, the job is bid good-bye.
2. The workmates are the reason for job’s checkmate.
When you work, you have people around you. It is no assurance that if you are good then the people around will be good too. Your promotion might invite jealousy from your colleagues. Your work might be criticized. Some people extract pleasure by making you feel left out. Team projects are failure in such cases and you find your emotional intelligence at stake. People find it better to switch job and not being suffocated by their peers.
1. To make the bucks fast.
We sign the letter of employment with the foremost reason to be financially independent and supportive to our family. Everybody is lured with “extra” allowances or “more” salary. So whenever a better paid job opportunity comes into sight, it is natural to grab it. One loves the lap of comforts and the pride of luxuries. This all comes with a cheque having more number of zeros at the end of the natural number. This has become the number one reason for job-hopping these days.
One must try to give their 100 per cent in their job and should fall in love with it. But one must not do it at the cost of their career. It might hurt to leave a job but then staying sometimes can only aggravate.
ALWAYS REMEMBER!
It is your life. It is your job. It is your choice.
