15. David Chang
Do you know who to thank for serving the most delicious Asian dishes in New York City? It has to be David Chang, the founder of Momofuku Restaurant Group in New York, Sydney and Toronto is a restaurateur, author and a television personality. Momofuku Ko in New York was awarded 2 Michelin stars in 2009 which it has retained ever since. Chang pursued his formal culinary training at the French Culinary Institute in New York City.
14. Anthony Bourdain
New York can sure be termed the gastronomic capital of the World with so many international chefs to its credit. Brasserie Les Halles has been endowed with an angel as an executive chef, Anthony Bourdain. This chef and writer started off as a dishwasher 2 decades back. A hope for hopeless people like me! (Not so much though- I wish I made a good dishwasher in the least). This Spanish Chef started his culinary career in 1980 and there has been no looking back ever since. Ever wondered of the Scientific Understanding in cooking? Well, this English Chef did. The journey to being a celebrity chef and owner of multiple restaurants wasn’t easy. His restaurant, The Fat Duck, is not just a 3 Michelin star rated but also made it to the list of World’s 50 best restaurants in 2006. So to this man for his delight in the theory of cooking, his dishes are sure multi sensory.
9. Thomas Keller
Thomas Keller is the most evident proof that you do not have to be formally trained to be a celebrity chef. The owner of French Laundry in Napa Valley, this American Chef learnt best from his experience. Awarded for his exemplary work as a chef in 1997 as the “Best Californian Chef”, his restaurants have been awarded 3 Michelin Star rating. Bought his cookery books yet? 8. Charlie Trotter
If you don’t know him, sorry, but you do not deserve to eat – ever. This Monegasque chef of French Nationality was first offered the role of a chef at Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo. No wonder his formal training was from his mother (Mothers remain the best chefs, don’t they?). The literal master to the master of all chefs, this British Celebrity chef made a record of being the youngest to be awarded 3 Michelin Stars at age 33. This French chef and restaurateur does not need words to prove his relevance. Titled the chef of the century by mentor Gault Millau, Joel went on to be awarded Meilleur Ouvrier de France (France’s best Craftsman). Who said culinary skill was no craft? You cannot not know Gordon Ramsay. This High Profile Scottish Chef is perhaps the world best in the culinary industry (the ranking says best!). This aspiring footballer was destined to be a chef, and the world will thank god for that one injury. The only chef in UK with 14 Michelin stars (and counting), his food is sprinkled in magic dust. You’ve seen his on Television in ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ , ‘Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmare’ and ‘Masterchef USA. Well, who said a student cannot master his master’s art?
